Delbert Kline, Local Barber, Dies in Home

Last rites for Delbert W. Kline, 50-year-old Maquoketa barber who died Friday morning in his home at Delmar, were held from the Haylock-O’Hara funeral home to St. Patrick’s Catholic church at Delmar at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. James Janssen, pastor, officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kline was born July 12, 1908, at Wapello, Ia., a son of Wallace and Catherine Weiler Kline. He attended the Muscatine, Ia., schools and on June 6, 1945, married Iola Dodon in St. Louis, Mo. For the past 12 years he has been resided in Delmar and has been operating a barber shop in the Decker hotel at Maquoketa. He was an air force veteran of World War II and a member of the Maquoketa Barbershoppers chorus.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Linda and Deborah, both at home; two sons, Steven and Kim of Delmar; two brothers, John and Stuart Kline of Muscatine; and six sisters, Mrs. Ruby Brown and Mrs. Naomi Hendrix, both of Muscatine; Mrs. Gladys Fischer of Davenport; Mrs. Winifred Price of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mrs. Leo Schalk and Mrs. Emma Hixon of West Liberty, Ia.

His parents and a sister preceded him.
