PFC G. E. Kline with Marines, Is Killed on Saipan

Pfc. Gerald Edward Kline, 18, of the U. S. marine corps, was killed in action at Saipan about two weeks ago, according to word received Thursday by his father, John Kline, 102 Nyenhuis street.

Pfc. Kline had been in service for about two years. He had seen previous service at Tarawa with the marines.

He was born at Moline, Ill., Feb. 16, 1926, and spent his early years in Muscatine, making his home for a period with his grandmother, Mrs. J. C. Kline, at 601 East Sixth street. He attended St. Mathias school. He enlisted in the Marine corps at Moline.

Surviving are his father and his mother, Mrs. Julia Green, of Moline.

Pfc. Gerald Kline, 18, of the U. S. marine corps, was killed in action at Saipan a few weeks ago. He was a nephew of Mrs. Leo Schalk and a few years ago lived in West Liberty with his mother Mrs. Julia Green and Mr. Green. His father, John Kline resides at Muscatine.

Pfc. Kline had been in the service about years and had seen action at Tarawa also.
