Arthur Schalk, age 67, died suddenly at his home in West Liberty Thursday evening, June 10, following a heart attack.

He was born August 25, 1914, the son of John and Rose Mueller Schalk. On August 1, 1937, he was married at Monticello, Missouri to Leo Kline. He was employed by the Rock Island Freight Lines for 32 years, and following that retirement, was employed at the Iowa State Liquor Store in West Liberty. He was a Veteran of WW II and a member of the American Legion.

Services were held at the Snider Funeral Home on Monday, June 14 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Keller officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Mays was organist with Mark Kline, Jeffrey Kline, Kent Kline, Steve Kline, Kim Kline and Jim Thompson as pallbearers.

Burial was in Muscatine Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, a sister, Victoria Keil of San Diego, California a step-brother, Gordon Schalk of Beloit, Wisconsin and his step-mother, Henrietta Schalk of Iowa City.
