Fay Martin

Fay F. Martin, age 72, 316 Iowa Street, West Liberty, died Saturday, December 8, 1990, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a long illness.

Services were held Tuesday, December 11, 1990, at 1 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Williamson officiating. Vada Timm was organist. Honorary pallbearers were Marion Preston, John Ponce, Ron Hazen, Rodney Smith and Adolph Nezerka. Active pallbearers were Terry Hazen, Mike Hazen, Kenneth Hazen, Rodney Smith Junior, Steve Shetler and David Reed. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty.

She was born on October 27, 1918, in Muscatine, the daughter of Carl and Ruby Kline Brown.

She was a lifelong resident of the area, living in West Liberty for more than 50 years.

The former Fay Brown married Laurence Martin on December 7, 1934, in Muscatine.

She is survived by a daughter, Carlene Hazen Nezerka, Route 1, Ely, Iowa; six grandchildren, Sharon Shetler of Atalissa; Rodney Smith, Jr., of West Liberty; Terry Hazen and Mike Hazen, both of Muscatine; Kenneth Hazen of Route 1, Nichols; and Lynne Reed of Muscatine.

Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Betty Smith of West Liberty and seven brothers and sisters.
