JUANITA BURKS

Davenport--Juanita Joyce Burks, 75, formerly of Stockon Lake, Mo., and Blue Grass, Iowa, died Friday, April 12, 2010, after an extended illness, at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home.

Juanita was born October 16, 1934, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Daisy (Jones) Etter. She was united in marriage to Billy Joe Burks on November 21, 1958, in Davenport; he died December 7, 1996.

She worked in electronics assembly for various companies in the Quad Cities including Bendix; she retired from Mehta Tech in Eldridge, Iowa. She was a member of the Stockton Assembly of God Church in Missouri. Juanita loved the outdoors and enjoyed reading, fishing, and crafts. She will be remembered for her good sense of humor and her compassionate heart.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Brenda (James) Gaul, Bettendorf, Karen Burks, Bettendorf, Cecelia (Les) Howard, Springfield, Mo., Virginia Clasen, Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Roberts, Donnellson, Iowa, Nathan (Chanoa) Howard, Walnut Grove, Mo., Jolene Gaul and Craig Gaul, both of Bettndorf; step-grandchildren, Eric (Dacia) Gaul, Kelly (Matt) Bruce, Shane Howard; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Miriam Burks, James (Lois) Burks, Mary (Harry) Carter, and Anita Smith, all from Davenport, and Jerry (Kathy) Burks, Eldridge.

Her parents and many half-brothers and sisters proceded her in death.
