S.F."ZEKE" WICHERS

Muscatine--S.F. "Zeke" Wichers, 83, of 1514 Hershey Ave., died Monday, March 30, 1998 at the Muscatine Care Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Ostrem of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the combined squads of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Joel Wichers, John "Butch" Schuld, John Bryant, Larry Staats, Milton Mills, and Ed Hatfield.

Visitation willb e from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Legion of Muscatine.

Mr. Wichers was born on Jan. 31, 1915, in Brookport, Ill., the son of August and Helena Drewes Wichers. He married Margaret Etter on Aug. 5, 1942, in Salinas, Calif.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific, from 1941 to 1945, during World War II.

He had been employed by Roach and Musser, Grain Processing Corporation and the Muscatine School District before going to work at the HON Company in 1966, and retiring in 1977.

He was amembre of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time at the slough, watching geese, and in his younger years, ice-skating.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Margaret Fallon of Kansas City, Mo., and Linda Barrett of Issaquah, Wash; three granddaughters, Jocelyn Fallon of Kansas City, Jaime Bryant of Muscatine, and Amanda Hyman of Issaquah; two sisters, Mrs. Herb (Meta) Grebing of Muscatine, and Esther Schuld of Chicago; and one brother, Raymond Wichers of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, a daughter, Jane Bryant, and two granddaughters.
