MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Nella C. Stepanek, 84, Muscatine, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Muscatine Care Center.

The Rev. Sharon Phillips will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Dean Petersen, Denny Petersen, Devin Petersen, Kenneth Fowlie, Adam Powell, Richard Stepanek, Duane Land and John Stepanek. A private family burial will be held at Woodbridge Cemetery, Buchanan, at a later time. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Jesus Mission Church.

Mrs. Stepanek was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Holland, Mich., the daughter of Arnold and Helen TerHaar Brouwer. She married Charles Robert Stepanek July 7, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a past member of the Federated Church of Lisbon and was most recently associated with Jesus Mission Church as well as a member of the Ladies of the Eagles. She enjoyed meeting her friends every morning at Mary's Cafe to have coffee. She loved to sew and make nylon netting scratchers.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Allen Stepanek and wife, Jackie, of Muscatine and Keith Jay Stepanek and wife, Cora, of Iowa City; two daughters, Marcia Petersen and husband, Ronald, of Tipton and Sharon Sterner of Muscatine; three brothers, Arnold 'J.B.' Brower Jr. of California, Julius 'Lefty' Brower of Michigan and Charles 'Bud' Brower of California; a sister, Merle Thomas and husband, Gary, of Upland, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Kenneth Stepanek and James Stepanek; and a grandson, Jody Stepanek.
