Glenn Jensen, 100, Atalissa

Glenn E. Jensen, 100, of Atalissa, died on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. Robert Pickerell will officiate the service. Casketbearers will be Nancy Jensen, Angela Dickey, Christine Trout, Jeffery Jensen, Glenn Jensen and Todd Dickey. Burial will be held in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m. Following the funeral services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Christian Church. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in memory of Glenn. Sympathy notes may be left for the Jensen family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Glenn Emmanual Jensen was born on May 4, 1909, in Cedar County on the Cookson Farm south of West Branch, the son of Anton P. and Louisa M. (Paulsen) Jensen. On Jan. 1, 1934, Glenn was united in marriage to Helga Nissen in Plato, Iowa. After their marriage, they bought a farm south of Atalissa where he and his wife, Helga, raised two children and farmed for over 50 years. Glenn was a member of the First Christian Church, past member of the Penn Anenue Grange and was the past president of the Danish Brotherhood. He enjoyed singing, playing music, gardening, and most of all spending time with his family.

Glenn will be deeply missed by his son, Larry of Illinois City; son-in-law, Don Dickey of Coralville; six grandchildren, Angie Dickey and Todd Dickey of Atalissa, Jeff Jensen and L. Glenn Jensen, II and his wife, Angie of Illinois City, Chris Trout of Prairie Village, Kans. and Nancy Jensen of Chicago; nine great-grandchildren, one sister Ardith Nudera of Florida, five nephews and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helga, one daughter, Gloria Dickey, daughters-in-law Mary Jane Jensen and Betty Jensen, an infant grandson and an infant granddaughter, three brothers, Harry, Parvin and Ralph, one niece and two nephews.
