Ronald Ervin Easterla, Covington Road in Palo, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at his home after a sudden illness.

Services will be at George Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. John Gallagher of St. Mathias Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and Monday at Wittich Lewis Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Muscatine, the son of Ervin and Dorothy Hafner Easterla. He married Kay Gremmel on Oct. 13, 1963, in Muscatine. They were later divorced. He was married to Frances M. Adams on October 21,1988 in Las Vegas. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. He was known as Pachie to his grandchildren. He was an installation repairman for Northwestern Bell and AT&T in Muscatine, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids for 18 years and a driver for Cedar Valley Asphalt Company for 11 years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Frances; a son, Todd Easterla and his wife, Lori, of Muscatine; a stepson, Chad Adams of Ankeny; a daughter, Kimberly Schmidt and her husband, Nathan, of Muscatine; a stepdaughter, Lisa Parker and her husband, Dan, of Ankeny; seven grandchildren, Cory and Alex Easterla, Brady, Cassie, and Gavin Schmidt, and Morgan and Brock Parker. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Powell and Rosemary Easterla and his parents.
