OTTUMWA, Iowa
Marvin ''Marty'' Edward Gabrielson, 76, of Ottumwa, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at his home. Services will be at Faith Baptist Church. The Rev. Phil Griffith will officiate. Burial will be at the Brooks Cemetery in Hedrick. Pallbearers will be Troy McKelvey, Vance Shaw, Jim Boyd, Keith Van Engelenhoven, Sam Wilcoxen and Richard Egesdal. Honorary pallbearers will be Clair Burkhiser, Bob Boyd, Neil Harriss, Dallas Cunningham and Bob Anderson.

Visitation will at the Reece Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at Faith Baptist Church.

Mr. Gabrielson was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Clintonville, Wis, the son of Edward and Ada Knutson Gabrielson. He married Gail Louis Hoff on June 29, 1947, in Ottumwa. He retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works in 1978, where he worked for 30 years. He later managed Valley Village Mobile Home Community and Leisure Living Estates for 17 years, retiring from Leisure Living Estates in May of 1999.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the 32nd Division in the Philippines and New Guinea as an anti-aircraft gunner, participating in six invasion. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Dick of Muscatine and Diana Banes of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters; three grandsons; a great granddaughter; two sisters, Margaret Knutson of Wautoma, Wis. and Della Jubeck of Gile, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dorothy Dettmer, Ruby Jenner and Leona Seiser.
