MUSCATINE, Iowa
James DeLong, 67, of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville.

Services will be at the Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rev. Rick Simpson of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Sally Exbom was the pianist. Pallbearers will be Mike Othmer, Darrel Miller, Paul Shoemaker, Larry Ferguson, Dave Watson and Kenneth Wiley. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.

He was born June 4, 1933, at Muscatine, the son of Ira Clifford and Stella Josephine Cassidy Nichols DeLong.

He had served in the Unites States Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Lucinda Dale on Jan. 5, 1963, in Muscatine. They were divorced. He married Judith Strajack Huber on Jan. 27.

He was employed as a contractor for Reggie Meyers prior to retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed music, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the VFW Post 1565 and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; one daughter, Crystelle De Long of Muscatine; one son, James Robert De Long of Muscatine; four grandchildren, James Robert, Jr., Adam, and Logan De Long and Jennie Osborn; one step-brother, Virgil Nichols of Muscatine; three step-sisters, Velma Clester of Muscatine, Edith Krause of Des Moines and Esther Lamb of Oceola; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen, in infancy, one step-brother Ernie Nichols and one niece, Linda Rhodes.
