Beryl Kathleen 'Midge' Appleby, 88, Iowa City, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

There will be no burial. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Deeded Body Program.

Memorials may be made to West Branch Public Library. Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch, is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Sept. 11, 1918, in London, England, the daughter of Eric and Blodwen Meredith Moss. She married Ralph C. Appleby on July 10, 1945, in Sketty, South Wales.

She served five years in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Drew and wife Peg of Indianapolis, Ind. and Gary and wife Judy Frauenholtz of West Branch; three granddaughters, Lisa, Karen and Gina; and a great-granddaughter, Cassidy.
