WAPELLO, Iowa
Angelo Mario Areano, born Edward John Martin, 54, Wapello, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at his home.

Funeral mass is at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wapello. The Rev. Pat Lumsden will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by the Wapello Veterans of Foreign Wars Glenn Allen Post No. 5266. The body will be cremated.

Mr. Areano was born on April 8, 1949, in Webster, Mass., the son of Albert Loring and Mary Lorraine Areano Martin.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He graduated from Kirkwood Community College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a sister, Beverly Ann DePino and her husband, John, of Wilmington, Mass.; two brothers, Daniel Richard Martin and Albert L. Martin Jr.; his chosen parents, Julia and the late Herbert Oxley of West Branch and their family, Monica Chavera of West Liberty, Joseph Oxley of West Branch, James and Ruth Oxley of West Liberty, Rose and Jim Laing of Wapello, Brian Oxley of Tipton, Kevin Oxley of Kalona, Tim Oxley of Cedar Rapids, Marcus Oxley of Iowa City, Laura Fuhrmeister of Lone Tree, and John Oxley of Coralville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Debra Getchell; and a special friend, Aimee Otter.
