Martha Pitcher Arlott, 98, of Dewitt, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, in her home.

Burial will be in Oakwood Morningside cemetery in Syracuse, N.Y.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 5575 Thompson Rd., Dewitt, N.Y., 13214.

She was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Tyrone N.Y.

She married Joseph Arlott. He passed away in 1974.

She lived in Syracuse since 1932 and was a graduate of Painted Post High School and of the Rochester Dental School.

She started as a dental hygienist. After her children were in school, she started a career in real estate in 1944, that would last until 2000.

She was the first woman to receive the Greater Syracuse Real Estate Salesman of the Year in 1969. She also received the Realtors Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000.

She was a member of Dewitt Community Church and was an avid reader, averaging 2-3 books a week.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Schwanke of Dewitt and Marsh Wooster ( James T. ) of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Skaneateles, N.Y.; three grandsons, Mark Schwanke, James F. Benjamin and Peter Wooster; and nine great-grandchildren, Joseph and Caitlin Schwanke, Benjamin D. Wooster, Beatrice, Arna and Elizabeth Wooster and Ede, Madeline and Henry Wooster.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son-in-law, Norman Schwanke.
