Jerry Askew
ALEDO - Jerry L. Askew, 60, of Aledo, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at the Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.
He was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Burlington, a son of Irley and Edith Shaw Askew. He attended the Jacksonville school for the Blind and the Keithsburg schools. He married Carole Rush. He was employed as an assembler at the Container Corporation of America in Rock Island. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing cards, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Tonia Askew and two grandsons Bryan and Eli Askew, all of Aledo; stepsons, Michael Chapman of Washington D.C. and Todd Chapman of Seaton, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Pence of Keithsburg and Gayle McIntyre of Aledo; two brothers George Askew of Keithsburg and Dale Askew of Walcott; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
