MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dennis R. Bermel, 52, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at his home.

The Rev. Jason Crossen of Ss. Mary and Mathias will officiate. Casketbearers will be Jesse Bermel, Jason Bermel, Todd Bermel, Troy Bermel, Jeff Derksen, Greg Derksen, Brian Schoer, and Chris Tramel. Honorary bearers will be Donald Bermel, Scott Curtis, John Thuman, and Jessie Erwin. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Bermel was born March 2, 1956, in Muscatine, the son of Frank E. and Cleo L. Carter Bermel. He married Angela Kay Kiser on June 14, 1986, in Muscatine, and they later divorced.

He is a member of Ss Mary and Mathias Parish. He was a member of the NRA.

He worked in the maintenance department at Grain Processing Corp. for the last 32 years.

He was a graduate from Muscatine High School. He enjoyed stock car, go-cart, and motorcycle racing.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Bermel and Melinda Bermel, both of Muscatine; his parents, Frank and Cleo Bermel of Muscatine; a sister, Janet Derksen and husband, John of Muscatine; two brothers, James Bermel and wife, Sue and Ronald Bermel and wife, Deb, all of Muscatine.
