DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Rachel P. Fick, 88, Davenport, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center, Davenport, after an extended illness.

Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center Alzheimer's Unit. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Good Samaritan Center's Alzheimer Unit for their loving care and support.

Mrs. Fick was born July 18, 1917, in Duncan Township, Ill., the daughter of Fredrick and Bess Baker Allmandinger. She married Richard H. Fick Sr. on March 27, 1938. He preceded her in death July 13, 1982.

She had been the director of Student Services for many years at Palmer College of Chiropractic, retiring in 1979. In prior years, she had been active in many groups and organizations including: Professional Business Women's Association, Quota Club, Palmer Retirees Club, Mississippi Valley Girl Scouts, former Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, school PTA, her church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Kotacka and Mark Fick and wife Dee, all of Davenport; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Landon and Rosemary Caliger and husband Ed, all of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Richard H. Fick Jr.; and four brothers, Linus, Robert, Dean and Earl Allmandinger.
