WELDON HIDLEBAUGH
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Weldon D. "Shakespeare" Hidlebaugh, 78, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.Funeral Service will be at Grace Lutheran Church, 2107 Cedar Street. Rev. Donald Sondrol will officiate. Honorary Bearers will be Steve Whitlow and Andrew Lewis. Casket bearers will be Douglas Lewis, Jake Nabor, Joshua Watson, Nicholas Hindahl, Adam Stark and Mark Ditmars. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Grace Lutheran Church following the committal service.
Visitation will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Weldon was born on May 27, 1926, in Letts, the son of Alex and Eva Tisor Hidlebaugh. His first marriage was to Marilyn Montgomery on September 3, 1948, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on Jan 27, 1973. He later married Alys Stroh Lewis on April 15, 1974, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2001.
He was a carpenter locally for over 42 years. He served in World War II in the US Army in the European Theater.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Iowa Lodge #2 AF & AM, York Rite Bodies, and the Kaaba Temple Shrine.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Hazelwood and husband, Darrell, of Muscatine, Susan Bengston and husband, Albert, of Muscatine, Sally Nabor of Winfield, and Abbie Derksen and husband, Anthony, of Muscatine; one daughter-in-law, Dana Bartlett of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and expecting one in late summer; brother, Ricky Hidlebaugh and wife, Dolly, of Auburn, Illinois; and sisters, Betty Alice Schrieber and husband, Art, of Wapello and Janet Ditmars of Muscatine; and special friend, Phyllis Lorber and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son, Richard "Jim" Lewis, brothers, Fay Hidlebaugh, William "Bill" Hidlebaugh, Richard Hidlebaugh and Ronald Hidlebaugh and one sister, Joyce Hidlebaugh.
