LONE TREE, Iowa - Ruth A. Maley, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Logansport, Ind.

Mrs. Maley was born Feb. 6, 1954, in Norton, Kan., the daughter of Harold and Oneitta Craig Maley, both of whom preceded her in death.

She married and had two children, Justin and Jennifer Hamm. She worked as a float nurse, specializing in trauma and ICU at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport. She felt blessed to have earned a BSN-RN degree. She was president of the Student Nursing Association at Iowa Wesleyan College. She was active on the Board of Rehabilitation.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia, Kan.

She enjoyed her time with Mark Jarrard and her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, fishing, working in her flower garden, sharing God’s love with her Christian friends and even taking time for special cookouts with her children and their families. God, Mark, her family and friends gave her reason to fight.

Surviving are a fiancé, Mark Jarrard; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Erin Hamm; daughter, Jennifer Hamm and her fiancé, Joshua Smith, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor and Dylan Hamm, the children of Justin and Erin. Jace Smith, the son of Jennifer and Joshua; Mark Jarrard’s parents, Wayne and Wanda Jarrard, Atalissa; siblings and their spouses, Dennis and TR Maley, Las Vegas, Nev., Craig and Debbie Maley, Eudora, Kan., Lyneitta Johnson-Book and Garrett Book, Chandler, Ariz., Rita and Jeffrey Ellston, Omaha, Neb., Illa and Jim Weeks, Burlington, Kan., Randy and Joyce Maley, Chandler, Ariz., Rick and Beverly Maley, Aurora, Colo., Rodney and Karen Maley, Burlington, Kan., Shirley and Gary Otta, Burlington, Kan., Terry and Teresa Maley, Moreland, Kan. and Larry and Kathy Maley, Aurora, Colo.; many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
