REV. GUY HUNTING, 76, OF FRIENDS CHURCH, DIES HERE

The Rev. Guy Hunting, 76, of 411 Begg street, former trustee and field man for William Penn college of Oskaloosa and a supply minister for the Friends Church, died at his home at 1:30 am today.

He was born Dec. 6, 1885 in Henry county, Ia., a son of William J. and Alice Phiefer Hunting. He has been a resident of this community since 1942, having formerly lived at Richland, Ia.

He married Sadie Gregory Oct. 6, 1909 at Alton, Kan. The Rev. Mr. Hunting was a member of the First Friends church of Muscatine.

After attending Howe's academny at Mt. Pleasant, he taught school in Henry county and in Kansas for a time prior to returning to Henry county to engage in farming and served on the Henry county school board for a period. He worked for the Farm Bureau for a time and was among the first to organize Farm Bureau insurance in Iowa.

Services with William Penn College began in 1926 when he became trustee, a position he held until his retirement in 1953. His work for the college also included duties as field man for Iowa. When he bacame identified with the college, he also began his work for the Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends, seving as a supply minister for many churches in Iowa.

He served as a full time pastor of churches at Richland and Woolson before coming to the Muscatine Friends church in 1942. He served twice as president of the Muscatine Ministerial Assn.

Surviving are his widow, of Muscatine; a son, Marvin D. Hunting of Mt. Pleasant, Ia.; a daughter, Mrs. George Apland of Muscatine; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled at 10 am Monday at the First Friends church in Muscatine and at 2 pm at the Friends church at Salem, Ia. Burial will be at the South cemetery at Salem. Arrangements for services are in charge of the George M. Wittich Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Rev. Guy Hunting, 76, of Muscatine were held at 10 am Monday at the First Friends church of Muscatine, and at 2 pm Monday at the Friends church of Salem, Ia.

Rev. Lowell W. Rasmussen officiated at the Muscatine rites with Rev. Clifford Wolfe as guest speaker. Mrs. Carl Idle was the organist, and Levi O'Dell the vocalist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Bernard Campbell and Mrs. J. Stellrecht. Ushers were Louis Herwig and Fred Evans.

Pallbearers were Bernard Campbell, Ralph Bierman, Richard Martin, Paul Hoag, Alvin Trader and Robert Schmitt.

Rev. Roscoe B. Townsend, pastor, officiated at the Salem Friends church. He was assisted by Rev. Lowell Rasmussen and O.T. Wilson. Mrs. Elizabeth Watson was the organist. Mrs. Marjorie Townsend and Mrs. Dorothy Mills were the vocalists.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Bernard Campbell and Mrs. J. Stellrecht.

Pallbearers at Salem were J. L. Mosher, Raymond Elmore, Milo Kudobe, Kenneth Robertson, Homer Williams and Dewey Pickard.

Interment was at the South Cemetery of Salem.

The George M. Wittich funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Hunting died June 23, at his home, 411 Begg Street, Muscatine.
