ARLIS "BUD" NOVY

West Liberty - Arlis "Bud" Novy, 59, died Sunday, August 6,1989, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty following an extended illness.

He was born on August 30, 1929, at Wellman, Iowa, the son of Roy and Agnes Booth Novy. He was married at Bentonville, Ark., to the former Edith Kessler on August 28, 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He retired two years ago from the Thatcher Plastic and Packaging Company in Muscatine.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; four sisters, Darlene Bouse of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Theonne Hoffman of Arizona; Cheryl Wright of West Liberty; Sandy Dipple of Muscatine; one brother Ciel, of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Agnes Hudachek of West Liberty also survives.

Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at the West Liberty Chaplel of the Barker Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Farmer will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call between 4 and 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
