RALPH SCHMELZER

Services for Ralph Schmelzer, 68, 412 McArthur St., will be held at 1:30 pm Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Cyril Reynolds will be officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 7 until 9 o'clock this evening, 9 am to 9 pm Thursday and until service time on Friday.

The son of Henry and Mary Wagner Schmelzer, he was born Feb. 25, 1913, in Muscatine. He was a life resident of the Muscatine area.

His marriage to Ona Miller took place in 1936 in Muscatine. Mr. Schmelzer had worked for the Louis Rich Co. for 15 years before retiring in 1979.

Survivors include one son, Howard of Muscatine; three daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Nazarenus of Davenport, Mary Rupp of Muscatine and Mrs. Kai (Betty) Bauer of Bryant; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Rudolph of Rockford, Ill., and Robert of Muscatine; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Swords and Mrs. Lloyd (Violet) McCullough, both of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.

Rev. Cyril Reynolds officiated. Mrs. Richard Dilts was the organist.

Pallbearers were Earl Schmelzer, David Schmelzer, Jerry Schmelzer, Larry Sateros, Robert Kleindolph and Howard Mock.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Schmelzer died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Davenport.
