Nichols – Robert Chown 68, Nichols, died Wednesday morning at Hot Springs, Ark., following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nichols Christian Church with burial in the Nichols Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 6 this evening at the Sorden Funeral Home, Lone Tree.
Robert was born Nov 21, 1908, at Nichols, the son of Louis and Elizabeth Meyers Chown.
He married Doris Poole Dec 29, 1932 in Rock Island, Ill.
A retired businessman, he was a member of the Moose Lodge, Lone Tree Odd Fellows, Nichols Volunteer Fire Department, 50 – years substitute mail carrier and was a deacon in the church.
Surviving are five sons, Fred of Marion, James of Mendora, Wis., Max and Dana of Nichols, and Kevin of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Karen) Cline of West Liberty; 15 grandchildren; and a brother, Louis of Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, a brother and a grandchild.
