COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Frances Ellen Hudson Burns, 91, of Columbus Junction, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Services: At the Columbus City Cemetery.

The Rev. Catherine Whitlatch will officiate.

Casketbearers will be Phillip Dann, Steve Dann and Roger Dann.

Memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice, 211 First Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52401.

She was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Conesville, the daughter of Harry Oren and Callie Henriette (McKee) Meredith.

She married Merle Hudson in 1940. They later divorced. She married George W. Burns on Dec. 17, 1988, in Des Moines.

She worked at Owens Brush for many years in the packing department and 10 years at the Columbus Gazette as a line-o-typer.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Columbus Junction and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Steve Dann of Des Moines; a stepdaughter, Elaine Hostetler of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a great-grandchild and her brother, Walter Meredith.
