TIPTON, Iowa - Thomas W. Howard, 68, of Tipton, formerly of Wilton, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at his home, following an extended illness.

The Rev. Father James Vrba will officiate.

Casketbearers will be Robert Mosher, Randy Hunter, Frank Ortiz, Steve Grotzky, Ron DeFosse and Troy McKim.

Inurnment will be at a later date at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Genesis Hospice VNA or the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund.

Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 17, 1939, in Muscatine, the son of Wesley and Edith (Fitzgerald) Howard.

He married Jewel A. Murdock on Nov. 27, 1965, in Muscatine.

He graduated from Muscatine Catholic High School in 1958 and proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army.

He owned and operated T and W Appliance and Electric in Wilton for 24 years, retiring in 1999.

He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilton and former parish council president.

He loved fishing, golfing, tractors and woodworking. He enjoyed antiquing, especially antique clocks that he meticulously repaired. Above all, he loved his family and the time he spent with them.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife; six daughters, Julie Mosher and husband, Robert, of Tipton, Becky Gray of Wilton and friend, Randy Hunter of Stanwood, Debbie Ortiz and husband, Frank, of Muscatine, Mary Grotzky and husband, Steve, of Wilton, Jennifer DeFosse and Ron DeFosse of Muscatine and Meagan Koehler and husband, Casey, of Muscatine; a son, John Howard and wife, Jolene, of Muscatine; 16 grandchildren, Briana, Tommy, Casey, Brandon, Alison, Julia, Nathan, Jacob, Katie, Ron, Maddie, Laney, Justin, Sammy, Jacey and Cody; his parents; a sister, Mary Lou Howell and husband, Jerry, of Muscatine; and two brothers, Robert Howard and wife, Nancy, and William Howard and wife, Rose, all of Muscatine.
