Amanda Emma Rummells was born 3 Sep 1898 in Nichols, Muscatine, IA, to Josiah Walker (1869 - 1956) and Della Mae Coyner Rummells, Jr (1872-1955).
She received a teaching certificate from Northern Iowa Unveristy (Iowa State Teacher's College) and taught school at the Lacey School, where her mother Della Mae Coyner and brother Harold Rummells also taught.
She married Harry Eugene Shannon (1895 - 1979) on 28 Sep 1893 in Nichols, Muscatine, IA.
She was the mother of Virgina Norine Shannon Appleby Frink (1921 - 2009) and Evelyn Elaine Shannon Train (1922 - living).
Amanda began painting in 1916, when a young woman. She gave it up with marriage and later in life began again. Her four grandsons all have her paintings hanging in their homes and they bring back good memories of their grandmother.
She died in Clearwater, Pinnelas, FL, on 30 Mar 1988 and is buried in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Black Hawk, IA.
