Virginia Norine Shannon was born 19 Mar 1921, in Nichols, Muscatine, IA, to Harry Eugene (1895-1979) and Amanda Emma Rummells Shannon (1898-1988).

She received a teaching certificate from the University of Northern Iowa (Iowa State Teacher's College) and taught in Coggin and Wilton Junction during World War II.

She married George Kenneth Appleby (1921-1971) on 14 Jan 1945 in Waterloo, Black Hawk, IA. He died in an airplane crash in 1971. She married Robert Briggs Frink (1920 - living) on 31 Aug 1975 in Cedar Rapids, Linn, IA.

She was the mother of Robert Michael Appleby (1945 - living) and David Patrick Appleby (1948 - living).

I remember many trips to Nichols to visit Josiah Walker and Della Mae Coyner Rummells, Jr, Clarence and Verda Shannon Metcalf, Bert Metcalf, and Alberta Kelly.

Virgina died 2 Feb 2009 from injuries suffered in a fall and is buried in Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Linn, IA.
