Rites at Stanton for Mrs. Velander
Former Elliott and Stanton Newspaper Woman Died June 23, at Farm Home Near Guss
Stanton, July 3 – Funeral services for Mrs. Iver Velander were held from the Mamrelund Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon of last week in charge of Rev. Rudolph Anderson. Mrs. Velander died at her farm home near Guss June 23. She was born at Elliott, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Reynolds, May 24, 1885, where she grew to womanhood and graduated from the Elliott high school. Later she was employed in newspaper work at Elliott, Mystic and Stanton. She was married to Charles A. Malmberg Aug. 9, 1916, making their home in Stanton until his death. She continued her husband’s business here until she was married to Iver Velander July 11, 1935. She was a member of the Lutheran church in Stanton. Besides her husband she leaves three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Cramer of Emerson, Mrs. Mabel Kinney, Elliott, and Mrs. Menger Weathersby, Chicago, and a brother, Henry Reynolds, of Elliott. Interment was in the Mamre cemetery at Stanton. Music was by Mrs. Helmer Johnson, Mrs. Harold Larson, Miss Dorothy Malmberg and Miss Frances Peterson. Pallbearers were Alva Cramer, Earl Cramer, William Weathersby, Harry Saint, Harold Saint and T. Thompson. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Leland Malmberg and Misses Virginia Danbom, Evelyn Malmberg and Mary Louise Peterson.
