Death of Julius Velander
Stanton, May 23 – Julius Velander, 64, died a Municipal hospital in Clarinda Tuesday, May 14, following illness of four weeks. He was born in Sweden Jan 10, 1881, and came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Swan Velander, to Stanton the same year. He has lived most of his life in Stanton and vicinity and was a member of the Lutheran church. He never married and was a barber by trade. For the past seven years he has lived in Wallin and Morton Mills. He leaves a brother, Ivar Velander of Guss, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Wolfe funeral home in Villisca Friday afternoon, May 18, with Rev. A. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial was in the Mamre cemetery at Stanton. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ivar Velander of Guss and Albert Velander of Clarinda.
