Robert "Doc" Docker, 90, Council Bluffs, formerly of rural Red Oak, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Bethany Lutheran Home, Council Bluffs.

John Robert Docker was born near Red Oak on Oct. 13, 1924, to Bernard and Mabel ( Olson ) Docker in Montgomery County. He attended rural schools, graduated from Red Oak in 1942, and then attended Red Oak Junior College for one yar. He was a wartime farm laborer and member of the Ground Observer Corps.

Robert married Ruth Brown on April 26, 1959, in Omaha. Robert farmed 40 years in Montgomery County. In 1985, Robert and Ruth moved to Council Bluffs and managed the North Avenue Tower Apartments for 11 years, retiring in 1996. Robert had been an active church member serving on boards and colunteering. During Robert's years on the farm and in Council Bluffs he reported the weather to KMA radio in Shenandoah. This was known as"Doc's Weather Report."

After retirment, he enjoyed taking long walks, doing lawn and garden work, maintenance care for the church, traveling with his wife, and attending antique farm equipment shows all over the Midwest. Most importantly, Robert treasured spending time with his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, LaVonne ( Docker ) Smith, son, John Robert Docker, Jr. brother, Joseph Edward Docker, and his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth ( Brown ) Docker, daughters, Judy Wolz, Bellevue, Ned., Connie Mellott and husband, Steve, Emerson, Janelle Durlin and husband, Scott, Orange City, Fla., grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, Bernard Docker and his wife, Delores, Red Oak, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service was Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating.
