Funeral services for Richard Lee " Dick" Shearer, 38, Red Oak, will be Tuesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with the Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Shearer died Friday, ( June 15, 2001 ) at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born May 6, 1963 in Red Oak to Robert and Jane ( Sheets ) Shearer. He lived all his life in Montgomery County. He attended school and graduated from Griswold High School in 1981 and was employed at the Red Oak Greenhouse as a supervisor and grower. He was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and a son, Travis Ryan Shearer, Dec. 27, 1988.

Survivors include his Tyler Shearer of Red Oak, parents, Robert and Jane Shearer of Elliott, five brothers, Rob Shearer and his wife, Michelle of Emerson, Bill Shearer and his special friend, Cathy of Red Oak, Russ Shearer and his wife, Monica of Red Oak, Steve Shearer of Emerson, and Jeff Shearer of Elliott, sister , Julie Daugherty and her husband, David of Little Sioux, good friend, Lori Shearer of Red Oak, four nieces, three nephews, one great niece, many other relatives and friends.
