Funeral services for Anna Media Allen, 78, Essex, were Monday, Jan. 25, at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel with burial in the Evergren Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Climax United Methodist Church. Mrs. Allen died Thursday ( Jan. 21, 1999) at the Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Page County, south of Stanton, to Carl W. and Alice ( Johnson ) Alm. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen , Sept. 15, 1941, in the Mission Covenant Church in Stanton. They lived in Red Oak where she worked for the Thomas D. Murphy Co. until 1942, when they moved to California and then Georgia while Mr. Allen was in the service during World War II. In 1946, they moved back to West Township, Montgomery County, where they farmed. She was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church and the Neighborhood Birthday Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Terry in 1976.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Allen of Red Oak, son, Gary Allen of Chariton, daughter, Janice Allen of Arvada, CO., three grandchildren, Kent, Katie and Caleb, three brothers, Carl Alm of Elliott, Leonard Alm of Griswold, and Darwin Alm of Red Oak, four sisters, Viola Johnson of Red Oak, Edith Rabe of Griswold, Lillian Madden of Red Oak, and Grace Lucas of Villisca.
