Funeral services for Ethel Ruth Echard, 93, Red Oak, were Monday, March 22, at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with burial in the Evergren Cemetery. Mrs. Echard died Friday, ( March 19, 1999) at the Vista Gardens Care Center in Red Oak following an extended illness.

She was born Nov. 24, 1905, in Montgomery County to William and Annie ( Frank ) Jamison. She was raised southwest of Red Oak and graduated from Malvern High School in 1925. She then taught country school until her marriage to Darrett Echard, Aug. 16, 1932 in Omaha. They farmed northeast of Red Oak the rest of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrett Echard, March 12, 1957.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice Rightsell of Red Oak, three grand daughters, Jean Hathhorn and Melissa Rightsell of Omaha and Marcia Tope of Des Moines, two great grand daughters, Samantha and Erin Hathhorn of Omaha.
