Funeral Services for James " Jim " Leroy Steiber, 78, rural Henderson, were Sunday, Jan. 24, at Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. He died Thursday ( Jan. 21, 1999) at Jennie Edmoundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

He was born Dec. 19, 1922, near Tekamah, NE. to Roy and Ella ( Speidel ) Steiber. The family farmed near McCelland, IA. from 1923 until moving to Lewis in 1935. Graduating from the Lewis High School in 1940, he moved with his parents to rural Pottawattamie County. After his marriage to Iola Dorscher, Jan. 20, 1944, they farmed in the rural Henderson area for 55 years. Mr. Steiber enjoyed farming his entire life and talking with friends. The coffee pot was always on.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a siter, Luella Wollenhaupt.

Survivors include his wife, Iola Steiber of rural Henderson, two daughters, Joann Steiber of Waukee and Cathy Eshelman and her husband, Merlin, of Atlantic, one grandson, Michael Eshelman of Phoenix, AZ., a brother, Eugene Steiber of Shenandoah, nieces and nephews.
