Salem: Mrs. Mary Bruce, for about 38 years a resident of this township, died in Clarinda Tuesday, Dec. 1. She was in her 77th year. Her maiden name was Neuschwanger. She was born in Germany and came to the United States with her brothers when a girl. She was the widow of Nicholas Bruce, who died 17 years ago. She is survived by 5 sons, Henry Bruce of West township, Peter Bruce of Beaumont, Cal., John Bruce of Omaha, Charles Bruce of West Township and Frank Bruce of Grant township. Three children, two daughters and one son, preceded her to the other world. Mrs. Bruce was a member of the United Evangelical church of Salem. The funeral services were held in that church on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 3, and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. M. Banford. There was large attendance of friends at the funeral.
