Mrs. Agnes Herbert, 79, widow of Martin Herbert, died Tuesday at 6 a.m. at her 200 Oakwood-ave., after sickness of two days from heart trouble. The funeral was held yesterday at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholice church, Rev. Fr. M. M. Tennessen conducting the services. Pallbearers were A. H. Remy, G. Reifschneider, John Pugge, John Dahlman, Geo. Roach, and Bernard O'Rourke. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Agnes Hughes, was born at St. John, Can., Oct. 1, 1852, and was married at Montreal, in 1871, to Martin Herbert. They came to Red Oak in 1878 to make their home. They were the parents of nine children. They are: Mrs. Elizabeth Sheehy and Mrs. Grace Sweeny, Creston; Michael Herber, Macedonia; Leo Herbert, Omaha, and Miss Minnie Herbert, at home. Three children preceded her in death. They were Miss Mame, who died in 1925 in Ottumwa. She taught here for years in the Red Oak schools and later enter a convent in Ottumwa, where she taught. John Francis died June 3, 1928, and James died overseas during the world war in 1918. Mr. Herbert, for many years an employee of the Burlington railroad, died here April 3, 1918. Mrs. Herbert was a good friend and kind mother and many friends mourn her death.
