Funeral services for Laura K. (Witmeyer) Benskin, 92, Red Oak are pending at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home. Mrs. Benskin died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1999) in Montgomery County Memorial hospital in Red Oak following a brief illness. ~ The Red Oak Express, Jan 5, 1999, page 2A, col 3.

Laura K. Benskin, 92
Funeral services for Laura K. Benskin, 92, Red Oak, were Thursday, Jan 7, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. A Faith Rebekah Lodge service was Wednesday, Jan. 6. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Benskin died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1999) at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 30, 1906, in Chula, MO, to John and Bessie (Oldaker) Witmeyer. She lived most of her life in Red Oak. She was united in marriage to Ivan Benskin Sept. 2, 1925, at Chillicothe, MO. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Red Oak and Faith Rebekah Lodge #174. She enjoyed working with her husband. Her artistic skills included crocheting, tatting, knitting and oil painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan Benskin, Nov. 5, 1982; two sons, Paul and Raymond; a brother; two sisters; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include two sons, Oral Dean Benskin and his wife, Rosa, of Republic, MO, and David Lloyd Benskin and his wife, Barbara, of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; four step-granchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. ~ The Red Oak Express, Jan. 12, 1999, page 2A, column 1 & 2.
