FUNERAL OF W. H. LATHROP (Sr.)

Wm. Henry Lathrop, For over 30 Years Respected Resident of This County,
Passed Away Thursday

The funeral of W. H. Lathrop, short mention of whose death appeared in the
last issue of THE SUN, was held at the home Tuesday morning, at 10 o'clock.
Rev. O. R. O. Farel, of the Baptist church, conducted the services. Burial
was in the Red Oak cemetery.

Singing was by Miss Mabel Reimers, Mrs. I. Q. Gibson, Ethan Harris, and Dr.
E. M. Woodard. The friends who acted as pallbearers were J. A. Bass, N. H.
Stafford, D. J. Leech, F. B. Shanks, Fred Kidder, W. E. Draper.

Those who were here from a distance to attend the funeral were S. H.
Lathrop, from Strawberry Point; Mrs. Mary G. Bell, of Carstairs, Alberta,
Can.; Mrs. Emily B. Miller, of Greenfield; and Edward B. Lathrop, of Omaha.

Wm. Henry Lathrop, was born on June 14, 1837, in Columbus, Ohio, and died
Friday, Dec. 31, after an illness of two years. On Sept. 26, 1861, he was
married in Clayton county, Iowa, to Miss Sarah M. Richards. To them were
born ten children, nine of who are living. The surviving children are: Mrs.
Mary G. Bell, Carstairs, Alberta, Can.; Wm. H. Lathrop, Katherine, Laura and
Ellen, of Red Oak; Mrs. Emily B. Miller, of Greenfield; E. B. Lathrop, of
Omaha; C. F. Lathrop, of Rathdrum, Ida.; Mrs. Nellie M. Trabert, of Spokane,
Wash. He is also survived by three brothers: S. H. Lathrop, Strawberry
Point; Geo. B. Lathrop, of Red Oak; Ellis M. Lathrop, of Washington state.
Mrs. Lathrop departed this life Sept. 28, 1913.

Mr. Lathrop was in his 79th year. During his life, up until he moved to Red
Oak in 1897, he was a farmer. He came to this county in 1874. He was a
member of the Baptist church.

Mr. Lathrop was a good man and had many friends who now extend their sincere
sympathy to the bereaved family.
