Mabel M. Lennie, 87, died peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Monroe County Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, with Rev. Kevin Leveck. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Albia
Mabel was born August 16, 1916 in Marysville, Iowa to Hance and Sabra Walters Wagaman. She graduated from Bussey High School in 1934 and later recieved her Associates Degree in Medical Records at Ottumwa Heights. Mabel married James E. Lennie Jr. on July 8, 1936 in Lovilia, Iowa.
Mabel worked 18 years for the Monroe County hospital in Medical Records. She was active in the Albia community and Trinity United Methodist Church. She was past president of the Albia Woman's Club and was active in the Albia Hospital Auxiliary and Weight Watchers. Mabel was a avid traveler and enjoyed reading.
She was the beloved mother of James X. Lennie and his wife Janet of Ankeny and Larry N. Lennie and his wife Rose of Albia and the doting grandmother of five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James on November 9, 1994; two grandchildren, Jill Lennie, and Joseph Lennie; one brother, Bill Wagaman; and one sister Patty McDonald.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Monroe County or Albia Woman's Club.
