Catherine Philomena Coady O'Brien
MRS. O'BRIEN DEAD AT 78.
Mrs. James O'Brien, 78, of Melrose, died Friday at O'Donnell-Nursing Home in Russell after a lingering illness.
She was the mother of Phillip J. O'Brien, Manager of the Monroe County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee office here.
Her husband died about five months ago and she also was preceded in death by a daughter.
Mrs. O'Brien was born in Tyrone, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Coady, and always lived in the Melrose Community.
The Rosary was recited at Humeston Funeral home here Sunday evening and funeral rites were conducted by the Rev. R.J. McGrath at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Melrose, this morning. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Georgetown.
Surviving Mrs. O'Brien are a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Carmody of Melrose; five sons, Martin O'Brien of near Albia, Pierce O'Brien of Chicago, IL. Francis O'Brien of Des Moines, Michael O'Brien of Davis, California and Phillip O'Brien of Melrose; a sister Mrs. Ellen Judge of Albia; and 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
