Mary Salato (1914 - 2002)

Mary Salato, 87 of Albia, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Burial of creaming will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

She was born July 16, 1914 to Frank and Manda Klarich Karpan in Monroe County. She married Félix Salato on Aug. 7, 1948 in Weller. She and her husband farmed together for many years. Mary was also a former school teacher.

She is survived by her husband; 14 nieces and nephews; and Many other close friends, especially Dick and Joanne Spencer.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Ernest, James and Joseph; and six brothers, Matt, John, Paul, Tom, Frank and Peter.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2002 at Gilbert- Nordstrom Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Gilbert - Nordstrom Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
