Johnston, Robert D.

Albia - Robert D. [Donovan] Johnston, 55, formerly of Albia, died July 6 at his home in Columbia, Mo., following a heart attack.

He was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Monroe County to J. [James] Carl and Beulah Mohler Johnston. [He was first married to Nellie Jane May (b. 1919-d. 2012) of Albia.] He was a senior technician with the Department of Anatomy and Histology at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia.

Mr. Johnston was a commissioner in the Boy Scouts of America and a leader.

Survivors are his widow [second wife], Thelma; one son, Dennis J. of Ottumwa; two stepsons; several grandchildren; his mother of Albia; and two sisters [Alice Jane Linville and Martha Charlene Kirkwood].

The funeral was held Saturday in Columbia.
