John Edward "Ed" Sinnott (1926 - 2013)

John "Ed" Edward Sinnott, age 86 of Waukee, formerly of Albia, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee.

Ed was born December 28, 1926, to James and Edna (McGrath) Sinnott in Ottumwa. He married Betty Coughlin October 2, 1947 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Ed graduated from Georgetown High School, class of 1945. He worked at John Deere for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia and the Knights of Columbus Council #4167.

Ed is survived by his wife, Betty of Waukee; four children, Tom (Cindy) Sinnott of Denison, Jackie Sinnott of West Des Moines, Mike (Cathy) Sinnott of Dubuque, and Ed Sinnott of Clive; six grandchildren, Michelle Howard, Melissa Carstens, Melinda Sinnott, Colin Sinnott, Meg Sinnott, and Brendan Sinnott; two great grandchildren, Noah and Emma Carstens; a sister, Mary T. Kelleher; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Dick Sinnott.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia; with Fr. Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Ed's family present. A rosary will be led by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society at 4 p.m., and a Christian wake service will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday evening.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia.

The family of Ed Sinnott would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mercy West Lakes, Legacy Pointe and St. Boniface Church for all their compassion and kindness shown to their family.
