Samuel G. Sage, the oldest man in Cedar township and one of the oldest settlers in this vicinity, died last Thursday, Jan. 17th, born July 12, 1812, and was 89 years of age.

He came to Iowa before the Indians left and his life has been spent as a citizen of this state.

He leaves an aged wife and several sons and daughters to mourn his loss. His son, Ed, from Washington, Iowa, who is 68 years of age, was in attendance at the funeral.

Rev. John Booth preached the funeral sermon from the text, “What is Man?” After which the remains were interred in the Oak Dale cemetery.
