Jonathan Y. Harris died at the home of a niece in Centerville and the funeral was held last Wednesday afternoon. It will be remembered Mr. Harris and wife were visiting in Albia at the time he was taken sick and he was taken to his home in an automobile. Some time ago he was a sufferer with intestinal poisoning but recovered from that. While in Albia he was stricken with sickness and it was necessary to take him to Centerville and he lived but two days following the removal. Sometime ago he was married to Jane Shaw, of this city, and since that time they have made their home in Centerville.

Death of J. Y. Harris

J. Y. Harris, who was brought back from Albia a few days ago, died at the home of his niece Mrs. Ada Buchanan, 536 North Sixth Street Tuesday afternoon.

He was taken ill while at Albia on a visit, and after being in the hospital there a short time was brought back here to the home of his niece. His illness started with intestinal poisoning, it bringing on a complication of diseases.

Mr. Harris had been a resident of Centerville for several years, his occupation being a nursery salesman.

He was an old soldier and fought in Co. H. 8th Iowa Calvary. he was 74 years old, his wife survives him.

Funeral services were held from the Buchanan home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Wm. McCoy of the Presbyterian church and the G.A.R. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.

Many will be interested in a quiet wedding that took place this morning at 10 o'clock at the Methodist parsonage, performed by Rev. W. H. Perdew. J. Y. Harris, a well known and highly esteemed old solider of this city and Mrs R. J. Shaw were the parties joined in matrimony. Mrs. Shaw is a sister of Mrs. Silas Parker, of this city, and had been visiting at the Parker home. They will make their home on Sheridan street.

Silas Parker received a message on Thursday telling of the death of Mrs. J. Y. Harris, a sister of Mrs. Parker. Mrs. Harris was living at St. Paul, Minn. at the time of her death. She was the widow of J. Y. Harris who was well known in this city and who lived on S. 17th street at the time of his death. At the time of her death she was 78 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Parker will attend the funeral in the city, as will also Mrs. F. R. Lentz of this city. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 on Friday afternoon.
