F. A. Turner

Frederick* A. Turner, son of Isaac and Mary Turner, was born in Cambridge, England. While yet an infant he was brought to America by his parents, who settled in Ohio. Later the family moved to Blakesburg, Ia., and from there to Iconium where he grew to manhood.

On January 20, 1873, he was united in marriage with Miss Rhoda Searcy, at the home of the bride's father, Hardon Searcy, in Monroe county, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. Turner settled on the farm near Iconium where they resided until moving to Albia 25 years ago.

Mr. Turner united with the Methodist church at 21 years of age, and continued a member until the time of his death. At different times he served in the church always giving conscientiously in devoted services. Brother Turner loved the church and Sunday school, and at the time of his death was teacher of the Men's Bible class. All the interests of the church were on his heart, and there was always some good excuse on the Sabbath if he were not in his place of worship.

Mr. Turner's life was a living epistle of his faith in Christ. In those moments of clear mind during his long illness he spoke beautifully of his faith and hope in Jesus Christ and the Savior. After four months of struggle with life waged against death, he passed quietly away on Sunday, Sept. 26th, at 8 a.m., like a child falling asleep in its mother's arms.

Mr. Turner leaves a wholesome example and influence to those who remain to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Rhoda Turner, two sons, Everett E. of Albia and Jesse A. Turner of Osceola, also three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Riley of Ardmore, Okla., Mrs. Minnie Davis of Albia and Mrs. Hazel Harris of Des Moines. In the group of bereaved hearts are also nine grandchildren and three half brothers, Isaac, James and Edward Turner, all of Monroe county. Mr. Turner made many friends during his long life who appreciate his character as a man and who are moved to pay fitting tribute as they recall their association with him throughout the years.

Funeral services were conducted by W. H. Perdew, Tuesday afternoon Sept. 28th and he was laid to rest in Oakview cemetery.
