(M)rs. Virginia THAYER died at the *ner’s hospital in Albia Thursday (ev)ening of last
week at 5 o’clock after (a) prolonged illness from complications *ident to cancer. At the
time of her (de)ath she was 77 years of age. She was a devoted member of the M. E.
(c)hurch. Mrs. THAYER had been in Iowa City for treatment for some weeks but (h)ad
lately been removed to Albia so that she might be among relatives. (D)uring the afternoon
she had been (vi)siting with friends and appeared to (be) in good spirits but suddenly
suffered (a) relapse from which she failed to rally (an)d her soul passed into enternity just
(on)e week from the day her husband J. *THAYER, passed away. She is sur(vi)ved by
two sons, Lou VIRDEN of Colo(ra)do and Elmer VIRDEN of California; (al)so two
brothers, John and Lee ROWE and one sister, Mrs. RYBOLT all of Albia. Funeral
services were held at the Downs Undertaking parlor in Albia Sunday morning at 10
o’clock after which the body was interred in the Oak View cemetery at that place. Mrs.
THAYER had many life long friends in Blakesburg who are sorry to learn * her death and
she will be greatly (mis)sed by her old friends and neightbors (am)ong whom she had spent
so many (yea)rs. Thus another of our old citi(zens) has entered the protals from (whi)ch
there is no return.
