Jesse Ernest Smith was born May 16,1877 in Appanoose County,son of Joseph and Martha Smith of Main Station. He was first married to Mary Platt and had a daughter Aleafa Platt Hiatt. They were divorced and married Annie Broshar Steel. They had three sons,Leo Scott,Leonard Broshar, and Lester Leroy. Annie died april 1919. He married Bulah Elswick 12/11/1920. They had three sons,Jesse E. Jr, Pearl E. and Carol D.
Jess died august 15,1961. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery,Moravia
