OBITUARIES.

Alvin C. Larsen, age 78, of Castana, died Tuesday, July 28, 1992, in a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Castana Community Church with Pastor Richard Hempenius officiating. Nancy Hanson was the soloist and Patsy Petersen was the organist. Burial was in Center Cemetery in Castana.

Mr. Larsen was born November 22, 1913, in Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Christian and Johanne (Mortensen) Larsen. He married Alice Jensen November 14, 1933, in Ida Grove. The couple farmed near Castana, living on their present farm since 1941. He and his son, Alan, operated a service station in Castana in 1960.

Survivors include his wife; four sons and their wives, Norman and Marie Anna of Sacramento, California, Arne and Hallie of Aloha, Oregon, Mike and Jean of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Alan and Carole of Clearfield, Iowa; a brother, Russell of Buellton, California; a sister, Selma Cripe of Lake City, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Alvin was preceded in death by a son, Eric; two sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers were Kent Larsen, Jim Jensen, Les Dobrovolny, Roger Melby, Sam Mann and Gib Gotto.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
