UTE, Iowa -- Joyce Lee Handke, 69, of Ute died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joyce was born in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth (Kingman) Jambrosic. She attended Kansas City schools and graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City. She was employed at Wolfsberg Electronics in Lenexa, Kan.

On Jan. 20, 1991, she was united in marriage to Edward Handke in Missouri. They had lived on the farm near Ute for the past 16 years. Joyce helped on the farm and ran Castana Tavern for nine years. She enjoyed cooking, saving recipes and baking desserts, and she loved her farm animals.

Survivors include her husband, Edward of Ute; a sister, Kathleen and her husband, Don Fullington of Kansas City, Kan.; and two nieces, Paula Hicks and significant other, Kevin, and her five children of Kansas City, and Shelley and her husband, Mark Coffman and their child of Bashor, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Paul Jambrosic.
